A key benefit of Beacon status is the invitation to all Beacons to test, pilot or develop a variety of new and innovative approaches to improve the sector's as well as their own performance.
In early August 2006, the Quality Improvement Agency invited all Beacons to make bids, or lodge expressions of interest, for innovation funding to further develop individual projects.
By early September, the Beacon Unit had received 64 proposed projects from 43 Beacons. Of these; 45 were approved and have now commenced. A summary of these projects are available to download.
QIA continues to be interested to hear about further new and innovative ideas. No guarantees of funding can be given of course, as this will be dependent upon the availability of funds.
